Evangelism is primarily listening for the good news of Jesus’s loving, liberating, life-giving activity – in our lives and in the lives of people around us; and then naming and celebrating it. An easy way to notice and then name that good news is with Cardboard Testimonies.
1. Take time and reflect on some struggle you’ve experienced – interpersonal, spiritual, financial, health, vocational, etc. – and then saw God transform.
2. One side of the cardboard, describe the struggle in a few words. Think of this as the “before."
3. On the flip side of the cardboard, describe where God has brought you, or where you see God in the struggle now. Think of this as the “after.”
4. A group of testimonies could be presented as part of a ritual, with people walking forward, one after the other, and showing one side of the card and then turning it over.
5. You might create a film of lots of people doing it, to share the good news of how our loving, liberating and life-giving God is moving in your lives! If you do, share it with us at evangelism@episcopalchurch.org. …...more
